Deception - Is it Ever Justified?

No, it's not a 'secret'... It's for my GP, General Paper... I just became a member of the recent Debate club... We had no debate club before...

My secret is simple: I enjoy what I do, I do it properly, I properly enjoy what I do properly.

Economics, Accounting, Maths main. GP> General Paper as sub or English. It's not really English. How do I say? Hm, General knowledge expressed in English.
And French also as sub.

Accounting is not that bad...
I wanted Business as main too, but then you cannot compete.

Yes, Creole is our native, but some Mauritians do speak French too... English is the official language.

Thats a misconception. In our school, in may june 2009, 6 out of 9 students achieved As in business studies for AS.

To compete here, you NEED Eco main. I had to choose between Bus and Eco. That was it.

I start! LET US DEBATE!

I’d like to start off by making a simple statement - People lie. A lot. Parents exaggerate to their children and unmarked police cars are inherently deceptive. Before lying - let us have a look at its much controversial partner. What is truth in the first place? Can the truth be just one thing? In the Indian Independence Movement, many of our freedom fighters were deemed terrorists - and we labeled the British as an oppressing authority. Yet, can we really say that either side was lying? We can see that both believed in what they said. And isn’t that the truth, after all - believing what you say? OR IS IT? Ladies and gentlemen, if the truth in itself is such a vague concept, how can lies be treated as concrete?

 It has been said that lies hurt - but have you ever considered the truth? A truth that is told with malicious intent – Gossip? Two high school rivals, Emma and Jane. Emma somehow discovers that Jane’s dad is an alcoholic. For her own selfish pleasure, she spreads the truth in the entire school. Now - If you say "yes", you are committing a sin of scandal and gossip, damaging the reputation of another. So the moral course of action would be to deceive, to say- “I haven't heard anything like that".

Moving on, we could also portray it as a survival of the fittest reaction, for instance, if the President tells the people he’s going to be HONEST and announces the economy is failing; the obvious reaction would be mass panic and the withdrawal of money from banks and investments. This in turn would cause the economy to fail even more quickly and disastrously. Where does the great Truth benefit here? Lies and deceptions play a central role in everyone’s life. Playing saint and sticking to the honesty policy may as well prove true the saying “jumping straight from the pan into the fire.” In conclusion, only a heartless person would condemn it well not to EVER lie, for a hopeful heart is always better than a broken one.

Deception, based on intention, is always justified.

Lies and Deception is the foundation for the good relationships between countries.

If it were truth, we would be quarelling with each other. Less international trade, less specialisation and less money for us.

and we would be poorer.
