Oxidation is the loss of elections and the gain of oxygen. The oxidation number is the same as the valence number, basically the value of the charge that an ion of the element has. Thats really it. Now, if the oxidation number is negative, then it can still lose electrons, thus it can reduce other elements or atoms, thus they are called reducing agents. About the paralellogram law, u dont need to know that for the IG using sin and cos...

for the oxidation thingy

check this- a sample solved question (all details mentioned)

https://studentforums.biz/index.php/topic,3773.msg112331/topicseen.html#msg112331

for the parallelogram thingy - i advise u to use the scale (1cm = 10N) method to solve it instead of using trigonometry.

refer to the diagram

use the scale of 1cm = 1N to draw the diagram accurately..

next, draw the rectangle

the diagonal of the rectangle = the resultant force

find this by measuring it with ur ruler and using the scale to find the exact value

it shud be 10cm = 10N

u can also calculate the diagonal using the pythagoras theorm = sqrt(82 + 62) = sqrt (100) = 10

to find the direction find the angle from line M in the diagram
it shud be around 55 degree...
