ok remember, a move to the right is positive. in this case, if u see it vertically, it has moved to the left, and thus its negative. -1

There's no way for you to study for English First Language. Just practiced past papers and I'd recommend do from year 2007 till recently.

I just did the paper this morning. Quite easy  ;) but you need to write fairly fast as it was quite long.

some schools choose to have closed book exams,
that means u cannot refer to ur book during the exam....

I'm doing it tomorrow.. for me, it's all about past papers these days. before mocks i read through my whole textbook and made notes on any formulas/ratios needed for calculations. then i answered pastpapers with markschemes and am just going through them again and again since many qustions are repeated in igcses :)
