Ghost Of Highbury:
For the Latent Heat of Fusion , i remember this experiment.
Put 100g of ice in a beaker with a heater connected to a joulemeter.
Also, Put a thermometer inside the heater with its bulb touching the crushed ice.
Find how many joules are needed to just melt the ice without making it hotter.
100g = 0.1Kg
Say the reading is 'x' joules.
Therefore , x joules are required to melt 0.1 Kg of ice, thus 10x joules are required to melt 1 Kg of ice. Finally, Check if it agrees with the accepted value of 340 000 J/Kg.
Another and a more suitable way of finding the Latent Heat of Fusion is
Put Finely crushed ice inside a galss funnel and attach the funnel to a stand to hold it. The mass of the ice shud be known.
Inside the crushed ice, put a 40W heater , and have a beaker below the funnel to collect the water. Record the time for which the water is collected.
With all the values , calculate the latent heat of fusion using the formula 40 * Time = Latent heat * Mass of Ice.

I really need help with some drawings for bio and the exams are 6 days away so I'm really tense. I SUCK at drawings and I want to know the techniques or tips of getting the full marks.
I need help for the 2nd question in both papers. Basically what instruments do I use and how do I make every little corner of a diagram magnified in the right proportion???
Vin:
its basically free hand drawing..use a pencil..i dont think u might need a scale in these kinds of drawings
always make sure u draw an image larger thn the original
if they ask u to draw a perfect magnification of 2x or 3x
thn theres a method...i dunno whether its right to use in igcse because i'd used it in my competitive drawing exams
what u do is draw straight lines on the diag. using a scale to make a grid..( 1cm wld do)
draw another grid of whteva scale givn in ques papr..suppose 2x or twice so use 2cm to draw a grid in the blank space..
start drawing the picture on your 2nd grid exactly as the contents as the 1st one.. to fit the right square
jus like those puzzles u plyd wen small :P
but this will take practice and u might lose a lot of time!!
