oh really...strong A makes sense actually.
Yup its better to concentrate, but the IGs are nearly over now...but what defines a "Strong" A?? can u get a high A in one paper n a mediocre A in another n still get an A*??

M not really sure but isnt it like ur overall marks/percentage matters?...means doesnt matter if u got b in one paper n A in the other...

well i thought so, that they find ur weighted percentage...in my school an A* is 85 and above of the average weighted % while an A is 75.

most IGCSE grade thresholds suggest 72 for an A (like when u weigh the thresholds for A with the % the paper takes)

u guyz i don't think its possible that u need at least A in every component to get an A*. consider the followin example:

in bio mcq, A was once 37/40
say person A gets 36/40 which wud technically be a "B", but gets 80/80 on paper 3 and 40/40 on paper 2 he gets 97% overall...

but he got B, A, A

consider person B, gets 38/40 in mcq, but maybe 70/80 and 34/40 in paper 3 and 6...he gets 89% overall..
he got A, A, A

so, accordin 2 this rule, person B with a LOWER percentage than A would get an A*, whereas person A wouldnt, tho he has a *very*, and MUCH  high percentage overall....

wat do u guyz say to that? is it possible that they just calculate ur total with weightages, and just stipulate an A* mark?

yeah mate i do see sense in that comparison...person As definately better...hope they do it on average weighted % though...
cos it wud be terribly unfair if u just needed A in all components...

tbh i find that if you speculate (and i say speculate because nobody except cie know for sure), over it it makes you end up getting worried and panicky on how cie award a* (well at least it does for me). As a esso said, keep going with the couple remaining exams and leave the rest to God, knowing you've done your best, and you WILL get the mark you deserve =).

The highest 5 - 10% of all A students get the A*
