If I Had
What would have become
Of me,
If that, that was not,
Was?
If the feet turned right
Instead of left
If the mind had opted
To act!
What would have become of me?
And those
Who I now know,
If that which is,
Had not?
Like the wind upon my breast,
Or the Sun's powerful glare,
Would the day be the same
If they had not been there?
Ah but I ask,
Would we wish to change
To seep into mysteries unknown
When we may have chosen
The better of the two?
So I say
'Tis better to
Question not what may,
And live for today,
For what has gone
Be not half as exciting
As what's to come...
