I also have to study for lit as well..as you prob all do as well.. but i was wondering.

well i cant help u wid 9 a and b cause i just copied the ms ::)
c- u jus draw the dc motor
d-after each half turn the current passes from one split ring to another in the opposite direction.this ensures continuous rotating of the coil

i cant understand ur question

ok so u see,there is this cardboard and then there is this coil wound around it in the way shown...we have to draw the magnetic field pattern...i saw this in the may/june 2007 physics paper 2 for cie o'levels...

devileye:
hey...cn sum1 plzzzz explain eddy currents?? and hw they wrk..and the lenz law.....plz urgent!!!!asap  :-\

for 9a..its mainly the normal explanation, that, when a current-carrying conductor, is placed in a magnetic field, it experinces a force due to the magnetic field due to the magnet and magnetic field due to current coinciding..
for b, since its the motor effect..we use flemings left hand rule...first finger, from N to S, middle finger, from + to -..and thumb gives the force, which is anticlockwise..
