Question about Android Ice Cream Sandwich
sweetsh:
Hello
I have read that this is the new upgrade for Android?
Can I update my galaxy tab p-1000 with that?
How is this new upgrade? How does it differ from the previous?
Thanks!

You heard it right. But for galaxy p-1000 you have to flash your Tab to update to ICS. That means its not the original update.
Here is a list of what does not work according to a XDA member bulletproofideal:
1. Wifi doesn’t work
2. GSM doesn’t work and going to anything related to your SIM force closes settings (APN, Phone status, etc)
3. The welcome is broken in places so I skipped right through it
4. No keyboard
5. Camera, and messaging force close
6. Auto-rotate is on but does not work (it seems to rotate on force close of an app i.e. go to drawer and try opening camera while holding the tab sideways and you’ll rotate) all other apps that don’t require internet seem to work fine
7. SD card doesn’t mount
8. Not sure but the ringtones all sound the same could be an error
9. All developer options are currently enabled but this is probably a good thing.
So its useless upgrading it when nothing works...

I dont have an idea how it can be updated:l The phone/tab should have "Software Update" in the settings...

No there is nothing like that. I guess the android version you got on the phone/tab is the one it will be buried with
