Hey Golden Girl
,
Let me tell you the "maths" in calculating an A* in Edexcel A-Levels,as you have heard you need;
270 in A2 (3 units-90 each)
480 in total (overall A per unit for 6 units)
Did anyone tell you that you MUST have an "A" for AS to get A* for A-Levels?
If so they are badly mistaken!
It's like this (you could check this in the Edexcel website)you need minimum of 210("B" pass) in
AS Leveland minimum of 270 ("A*" pass) in
A2 Levelwhen you add up (270+210=480)(
Overall A* pass)
True it's better if you get higher marks for AS because then you can cover up A2 if you mess up A2 level exam.
E.g: If you get around
280 for AS (A pass) and only
200 for A2(C pass), Still your
overall grade is "A" pass,because 280+200=480 ("A" pass)
E.g: If you get around
226 for AS (B pass) and only
200 for A2(C pass), you get your overall
grade " B" pass,because 226+200=426 ("B" pass)
but this covering up cannot get A* as the overall grade!E.g: If you get around
280 for AS (A pass) and only
200 for A2(C pass), Still your
overall grade is "A" pass,because 280+200=480 ("A" pass) and
NOT A* pass because you need to get 270 for A2!
This is all explained in the Edexcel site!
In Maths it all depends on C3 and C4 because if you get 180 addition for these two units your A* is guaranteed!
With your marks for Maths, assuming you get 180 for C3 and C4 (90 each) ;
total:83+92+76+180 (C3 & C4) =431
you need only (480-431=49) for one A2 unit! You can confirm this from the Edexcel site!
Best of Luck
