M4@li:
guyz naveed1234 mentioned dat we had to multiply the gradient wid 10^5....i was abt to do the same thing in my paper but i think it is rong.....
U see....the table was smthng like this (i am not sure of the value but they were around the ones i rote)

(10^-5) ... lg d(10^-5)              And to calculate gradient we had to subtract two lg d values(of course) and this value was the
31                1.49                     denominator....any way the point is 1.49 - 1.15 = 0.34.............There is no need to do anything with
.                                              10^5.... i tell u why. if u use 31 X 10^-5 and use this full value to calculate its log, then it is -3.51 and
.                                            similarly for for 14 X 10^-5 we get its log as -3.85. If we subtract the two...-3.51-(-3.85) we get the
14                1.15                   same answer which is 0.34........

So dats why i THINK dat there is no need to multiply the gradient value wid anything....cuz we'll get the same answer either we use full value or the other. Anyway my gradient value was 1.27....and the constant p was smthng around 2.4 (and its postive) to get the value of p we had to do the inverse log of y-intercept......Neway.now next is Pure Mathemaics... :-\

Yeah i totally agree wit M4@li...
They had mentioned (10-5) jus to confuse us...
Whoever used 10-5, has made a big mistake...

sahi1990:
ya me 2 ................i also agree , they made us confused . ....my gradient was also 1.27 ........most of the student wrote 10^5 with their gradient .........which is wrong ............but dont worry  try to make ur next paper better.................. best of luck  .

mac:
:o OH CRAP!!!!!! Haha...u know when i calculated the gradient i ended up with ~1.27 and remembered about the o/n 08 paper since it had d^2/10^-4 on the y-axis. So in yesterday's paper i saw the lg(d/10^-5)  in the graph's x-axis. Then i scribbled the gradient +/- error  and put down 10^5 after the entire value of gradient!!!!  Do u think they are going to penalize POT (power of ten)? In O/N 08 P5 mark scheme they say don't penalise POT! it will prob. b just 2-3 marks lost, right??? :-\

I really regret this now!!!! They def. would hav confused a lot of ppl who done the O/n 08 paper!
I shud have remembered that 0/n 08 paper didn't  hav logs...  :-\ :P :P
I hope Q1 takes care of this mistake!

Is the grade threshold gonna b higher this time?? In O/N 08 it was +22/30 for A!!!

M4@li:
yeah... these cie ppl try to play evry trick in the book to confuse us....

anyway can smone tell me dat in the last part what were we supposed to rite the values of p and q....the value of q was the value of gradient itself which we calculated earlier or we had to do smthng else to obtain q....

The gradethreshold will prbly be arnd 23 this time...(most of my class mates including me found q1 easy...)
