chemistry problem

hello
what is suck back?
is there any effects to the apparatus if it occurs?
a similar question is in 2010 winter paper 6, question 1
help please my chemistry mock exam is tommorow

Suck back would basically mean the back flow of a substance.

In that experiment gas is collected over water. If heating is stopped before the delivery tube is removed from the water -the water will rise up the delivery tube as the pressure in the reaction tube decreases(since it cools).The water can flow back/can be sucked back into the hot boiling tube causing it to crack - an explosion might occur.
