yup cuz that amount of ice melts due to heat taken from the surroundings.

ny ... to ur question .. bascially 16.3 is the mass we started with and 2.1 is wen the heater is switched off ...

latent heat is how much heat can they take ... so u subtract these two to find the mass that melted because of the heater ....

thats why we subtract the 2

so,is 16.3g  the original mass of the ice ?i thought that 16.3g is the mass of the ice melted after we heated them.

it melted during the heater is on .. and the heater was switched off and 2.1g melted without the heater ...
