EASY question! biology. EXAM TOM!!
« on: November 08, 2010, 10:41:04 am »
I just looked at paper 34 m/j and question 2biii requires to draw a plan diagram
yu need to draw the outline of the vascular bundle inside as well right?
What about the pink blob thing that extends to the bundle top right of 'X'
do you draw that all the way down?
thanks!

I sat in this exam  :o It's fun to explain it XD

Anyway, for a plan diagram, you do not draw individual cells. So, you'll merely outline the vascular bundles (and draw to isolate the phloem and xylem in it) and pink patches, to represent spread of tissues but will not draw individual cells as in the diagram given to you.

What do they mean when they say we should annotate the diagram? I know what it means literally, but yeah. Like if they gave you a photomicrograph of a transverse section of a stem and asked for 2 annotations. What would you say?

Well, go for the two most distinct regions. Which could be the epidermis, xylem, phloem--even cambium in some cases. You can go for whichever you feel is most prominent.

I believe cambium is not really necessary unless you actually can identify it from your slide. ;D

That might depend on the slide you get for the exams. ;)

If you clearly distinguish anything else, feel free to add it. :)
