Caught up...
« on: September 29, 2010, 11:57:38 am »
Hi so I'm going to give my IGCSE's in Nov and my grade has already been asked what kind of subjects to take in A Levels.
My school has a minimum credit requirement of 7 and by next week I have to 'counsel' about the subjects I'll be taking.
I have chosen;
Physics.- 2 credits
Chemistry.- 2 credits
Economics. - 2 credits
Math. - 2 credits

now . I have a problem. English is compulsory and I'm stuck on GP or Literature.
Both seem wonderful but both have drawbacks as well. I was thinking of taking Literature as I've heard that some Ivy League colleges don't accept GP. What should I do? Can anyone tell me if GP is accepted by all universities? Because Literature has a lot of work load. lol . I want a smooth walk through A Levels and a good future!! LOL :D

A-Levels, especially with 'glorious' subjects as your own, is not an easy walk. =P What is your forecast grade for English? If it's an A or A*, then I suppose you're not neck-deep in water. I suggest you go with English Literature; General Paper is also difficult and not considered a real qualification by universities abroad. I can't pinpoint any since I brushed through many, but just google some Ivy League universities and see if there's accreditation for GP.

English Literature is tough and in essence, misery, but if you put your heart to it, it might just work out. So I guess you should go for the stronger, more definite qualification.

Galleria - The average student at your school takes 6 subjects at A-levels? Or is that just you?

English literature demands lots of hard work from your part........you need to memorize some key parts and all that.

I would have advised GP since it's assumed to be much easier but then I realised its not much recognised as a qualification across the globe.

Are these your only choices left??

If it is the case......go for the literature :)
